Continuing care at the Cardiovascular Centre
You’ve completed your hospital treatment following a heart attack. But what now? Go back to your old life and pretend nothing happened? This rarely works. The best thing to do after acute hospital treatment is go directly to a rehabilitation clinic for continuing care.
Our cardiac rehabilitation is directly connected to the Cardiovascular Centre, which eliminates the strain of transferring to another hospital. The aim is to help patients return to their private and professional lives and to restore or improve their previous quality of life. During rehabilitation, patients receive detailed information about their illness, along with psychological support to help them accept their chronic illness.
Sports therapy helps patients assess their own performance and limits, restoring their confidence in themselves and their body and teaching them not to overestimate their capabilities. At the same time it improves physical resilience. Preventive measures and a healthy lifestyle prevent the progression of disease. Special courses on diet, losing weight, stopping smoking, and relaxation help recovering patients to properly deal with the risk factors of cardiovascular diseases. Patients from other hospitals are also welcome in our Cardio Rehab department.
The Cardio Rehab dept. has been awarded the seal of ‘Medical Rehabilitation of Proven Quality’ by the Hospital Association of Schleswig-Holstein (KGSH) since 2009.
